IGP ON NEW RANKS SENSITIZATION

In his move to address the long standing issue of promotion in the Sierra Leone Police, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) – Mr. Ambrose Michael Sovula – has engaged Operations Support Division (OSD) personnel on the new proposed ranking structure for the Sierra Leone Police.

On Tuesday 18th August 2020 while addressing OSD personnel at their headquarters at King Harman Road, Mr. Sovula noted that the proposed ranking structure will ensure government’s salary harmonization for the SLP and annual promotion of personnel. “The Ranks to be introduced are Corporal, Chief Inspector, Sergeant Major, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner, and Commissioner”, mentioned Mr. Sovula.

Continuing his address, the IGP disclosed that, within the shortest possible time, 15,000 pairs of uniform will be made available for OSD personnel; the uniforms will include caps and boots. He noted that, with this welfare support, every OSD personnel should be motivated to ensure safety and security within Sierra Leone.

Responding to the IGP, the Acting Director of OSD – CSP Francis Tower – appreciated the IGP for management’s support to OSD personnel and the motivation given to them. He assured the IGP of the unit’s support to his administration.
