The President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association Pays Courtesy Visit to IGP Sellu

On Thursday, 6th June, 2024, the President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, Mrs. Tuma Adama Jabbi, and her executive team paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. William Fayia Sellu, at his office on George Street in Freetown.

According to Mrs. Tuma Adama Jabbi, the purpose of the visit was to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the professional policing services provided by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) during the Sierra Leone Bar Association’s Conference and Annual General Meeting held in Kenema. The meeting was a significant occasion where the membership of the Bar Association elected their new president and executive members to manage and run the affairs of the Association.

The President emphasized that she was keen to strengthen the relationship between the SLP and the Bar Association to foster a more effective working relationship.

In response, IGP Sellu welcomed the President and her executive team to his office and extended his congratulations on their victory.

IGP Sellu acknowledged that the SLP was involved in providing security coverage throughout the conference and annual general meeting in Kenema. Although there were some minor incidents reported by the Regional Police Commander of the Eastern Region, IGP Sellu emphasized that it was part of their duty as a professional police force.

He also stressed the importance of mutual respect for each other’s profession, highlighting his positive working relationship with the Sierra Leone Bar Association over the years. IGP Sellu reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Sierra Leone Bar Association and expressed his hope for a good working relationship with the newly elected President and her executive team.

The IGP concluded by congratulating them once again and wishing them all the best in their pursuits.
