SLP SETS TO GET CENTRAL MOSQUE

As God Takes the Center of Policing in Sierra Leone:

SLP SETS TO GET CENTRAL MOSQUE

Even as Police Officers provide security for the free practice of various religions, the Management of the Sierra Leone Police has long seen the need for God to be the center of Policing. With that in mind, the Police Management had long been seeking for opportunities to have infrastructures of Worship for both Christians and Muslims; as Christianity and Islam happen to be the two religions being practiced by majority in the Police and the country.

On Thursday 2nd December, 2021, the Inspector General of Police (Dr. Ambrose Michael Sovula) together with the Police Chief Imam (Assistant Commissioner of Police – Alhaji Kelfala M’Badi Bangura) in the presence of some members in the Police Management Board presented a comprehensive Project Proposal for the construction of the SLP Central Mosque at Kingtom to the Sierra Leone Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh) for him to assist in the search for funds so that the Masjid will be constructed within the shortest possible time.

Making his presentation, Dr. Sovula noted that his administration has always been “God-focused”. He highlighted that, since he took up office as Inspector General of Police, he has always been supporting the religious Units of the Police. As he spoke on his achievements in making sure that Policing happens within the framework of Godliness, Dr. Sovula emphasized on his plans to ensure that every Police Barracks in the country has Police-owned places of worship where police officers will commune with their creator before and after their daily diligent service to humanity. “I will always support the business of God; because, if the Police are to succeed in serving humanity, police officers should make God the center of their operations” closed Dr. Sovula.

In his response, Ambassador Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh appreciated the warm welcome accorded him in the office of the Inspector General of Police at Police Headquarters, George Street, Freetown. As he confirmed that God must be the center of everything we do as human beings, he commended the Police for the good job they are doing as it has led to Saudi Arabia choosing Sierra Leone within the Sub-region to be the first country they are planning to soon have an Embassy. He received the project proposal in good faith as he strongly promised to market it at the highest level when he gets back to Saudi. He closed by assuring that he would always coordinate with the Police for more opportunities.

The curtain of the courtesy call was drawn with the Police Chief Imam giving the closing courtesies and Ambassador Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh reciting a Dua for all present.
