On Thursday 21st December, 2023, the team manager for the Sierra Leone Police Female Football team who doubles as the President of Police Wives Association and wife of the Inspector General of Police Mrs. Matilda Doris Sellu has unveiled four (4) sets of new football kits belonging to the female team of SLP FC.
Addressing the players after unveiling the kits at the Police Wives Association Vocational Training Institute Hall at Kingtom, Mrs. Sellu relayed his husband’s satisfaction over the team’s performance in the last female premier league season but urged them to do more as winning the league is the only option the team needs at this time.
She continued by stating that the police management under the leadership of her husband Mr. William Fayia Sellu is determined to support the team as she noted “Proof of this is the enlistment of ten players into the Sierra Leone Police and the purchase of these kits”. She further revealed the IGP’s plan to procure a mini bus for the players to utilize whenever/wherever they go for matches in the near future.
Throwing light on the background of the team during the unveiling ceremony, the team’s secretary ASP Daniel Koroma mentioned that the team has signed five (5) new players as they prepare for nothing but a win in the coming female premier league season.
The players include: Fatmata I. Bangura, Christiana F. Bangura, Patricia Pratt, Kumba M. Kemoh, and Bintu Sankoh.
Showing the team’s high spirit on hearing the news about the IGP’s plan to secure a minibus for the team, the team’s captain Police Constable Kai Sesay led the team in chanting victory songs; as she closed by moving the vote of thanks to close the ceremony.
