FOR THE SUCCESSES GAINED SO FAR IN THE FIGHT AGAINST KUSH: IG SELLU COMMENDS PERSONNEL FOR THEIR INPUTS

As His Excellency The President has declared a state of public health emergency to eradicate Kush in Sierra Leone, the Inspector General of Police – Mr. William Fayia Sellu has on Saturday 13th April, 2024, commended the efforts of police personnel in the fight against Kush.
Mr. Sellu made this statement at the Taylor Cummings Garden, Cotton Tree, Freetown, after a tripartite float parade from Youyi Building to Cotton Tree involving the Sierra Leone Police, the Ministry of Youths Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism & Cultural Affairs against the novel Kush drug which has ravaged many youths in the country.
The procession was aimed at sensitizing the public on the need to continue the collaborative effort to make more gains as the fight against Kush continues.

“We will not relent. We will continue to pursue the importers and the dealers as they serve as the chain we want to break. If there are no importers, there will be no dealers; and if there are no dealers, there will be no buyers or consumers. The chain is our target; and there are no sacred cows. If you’re caught, you’ll be dealt with accordingly.”, says IG Sellu. He closed by encouraging all police personnel to continue the good works but warned them to desist from buying, selling, consuming, or illegally possessing Kush or any other drug.

Representing the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Deputy Minister of Youth Hon. Patrick Gibrilla touched on government’s moves to reform the youths Kush had stolen from “our community”. He made it clear that the gains made so far to eradicate Kush is as a result of youth involvement. “Seeing young men and women of our age languishing as a result of Kush intake makes us wonder what the future holds for the coming generations. We need to STOP Kush now!”, Hon. Patrick Gibrila called on Sierra Leone youths.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism & Cultural Affairs Hon. Kadijatu Kamara concord with the IGP and Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs by noting that the Kush menace has affected her Ministry extensively “as tourists do not want to visit a land of Zombies”. She led all present in a pledge to join and support the fight against Kush drug.
