Directorate of Operations

Coordinate all operational activities of the SLP throughout the country

Advise regional commanders and heads of departments on their roles by making operational/contingency plans
Ensure that the operations of the entire SLP is in line with the Strategic Development Plan.
Chairman of the Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) thereby enhancing good working relations with all other security stakeholders (e.g. military, prisons, fire-force etc)
Assist the IGP in the maintenance of public order, planning and implementation of operations that are of state security threat
In charge of border, sea and airport policing Responsible for policing the mineral, mining and fire arms control
Ensure smooth, fair and transparent conduct of national elections
Undertake any other duties assigned to him by IGP

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) which is operated under the Police Act No. 7 of 1964 is the national police force of the Republic of Sierra Leone. The SLP is primarily responsible for law enforcement and crime investigations throughout Sierra Leone. The Sierra Leone Police is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a cabinet ministry in the Government of Sierra Leone. This Ministry is responsible for the internal safety and security of the State.
