ACTING CHINESE AMBASSADOR PAYS COURTESY CALL ON THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE.

Owing to the long-standing relationship between China and Sierra Leone, it is equally important that institutions of government at the same time uphold and maintain similar relationship with the representing entity.

On this note, on Tuesday 11th October 2022, the Acting Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Sierra Leone, Li Xiaoyong, paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) – Mr. William Fayia Sellu, at his George Street office, in Freetown.

The motive of the Ambassador’s courtesy call was to extend his thanks and appreciation to the IGP for the quality leadership he has demonstrated since his appointment. The Ambassador wasted no time in recognizing the peace, security and tranquility the country is currently enjoying. This, the Ambassador said that it was a manifestation that the SLP was up to its task, by ensuring the stability of the State; adding, that he was highly impressed with the IGP, his Executive Management Board (EMB) members and the entire police family.

In response, the IGP was honest to state that he was elated by such sentiments, accolades and recognition. He thanked the Ambassador for the courtesy visit; which he said was a culmination of the firm relationship that subsists between the Police and the Chinese Embassy.

IGP Fayia Sellu furthered that China and Sierra Leone have had a long-standing relationship, dating back to the 70s. Mr. Sellu gratefully highlighted the multiple assistance the Police had gained and continue to gain from the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, including the country. He encouraged the Ambassador to call on him at any time he faces any security challenges.

Even though the visit was brief, but could best be described as relaxing, constructive and fruitful.
