Mr. Sato and his colleague were ushered in by the Acting Director of Training, ACP Mrs. Esther Kaintor-Dukulay who briefly stated that when she returned from Japan, she went to the office of JICA in Freetown and made a presentation about her action plan and the SLP’s felt needs, for which they promised to visit the Inspector General of Police and the Police Training Department. This, she said, necessitated the visit of the Resident Representative to the office of the IGP.
IGP Sellu welcomed the team to his office and wished for positive bilateral co-operation between the SLP and JICA.
Mr. Sato stated that he was pleased to meet with the Inspector General of Police; revealing that he had with him on the visit, the person in charge of training at JICA.
In response, Mr. Sellu thanked Mr. Sato for their thoughts and recognition. Adding, that the desire for a bilateral co-operation between the SLP and JICA is good news; given that it will help to create training opportunities for the SLP.
“As you are about to visit the Police Training School to see what we have and what you can offer to foster a mutual relationship between Japan and Sierra Leone Police, thanks for standing by the SLP”, he concluded.
The team later left Police Headquarters for the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA) on a feasibility tour with the Acting Director of Training.
