Guinean Police Chief Praises SLP Efforts After Arrest of Fugitive

On April 27, 2025, the Sierra Leone Police, through its INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Freetown, successfully arrested the notorious fugitive Musa Jalloh. Jalloh, who is wanted in the Republic of Guinea for armed robbery and murder, is alleged to have killed a Guinean national and stolen a brand new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser on April 12, 2025, before fleeing into Sierra Leone.

Detective Chief Superintendent of Police Jenevieve Tity Cowan, Head of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Freetown, confirmed that the arrest was made possible by a critical tip-off received through the INTERPOL I24/7 system. In response, INTERPOL, in collaboration with the Counter-Terrorism and Cyber Units, conducted a series of coordinated operations to monitor and intercept Jalloh’s movements across Freetown.

She stated that, due to this seamless collaboration, Jalloh was apprehended without incident. The stolen vehicle has been successfully recovered, and the fugitive is currently in custody, awaiting extradition to Guinea to face prosecution.

Speaking about the handover of the suspect to the Guinean authorities, CSP Cowan emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating organized crime and cross-border criminal activities. She praised the joint efforts of the security agencies, noting that partnerships across borders are vital for strengthening public safety and upholding the rule of law.

The Guinean Police Chief has officially commended the Sierra Leone Police for their professionalism, swift action, and dedication to justice.
