SLP Senior Leadership Training Concludes at Kingtom Police Barracks

Kingtom, Sierra Leone — October 25, 2024 — The intensive four-week Senior Leadership Training for members of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) concluded on Friday, marking a pivotal milestone in the professional development of senior officers at the Senior Officers Mess in Kingtom Police Barracks.

During the closing ceremony, Dr. Ahmed A. Sannoh, Deputy National Security Coordinator, delivered a keynote address on behalf of the National Security Coordinator, who was unable to attend. Dr. Sannoh expressed gratitude to Alhaji Yusuf Manjalow and the experts from YUMAJ Consultancy Group for their leadership and expertise throughout the training program.

“In celebrating the intellect and vision of each of you — the senior members who form the backbone of our country’s security sector — we have sharpened not only our technical skills but also reaffirmed our shared mission to uphold stability and protect our citizenry,” Dr. Sannoh stated.

He emphasized the vital role that leaders play in navigating an ever-evolving and interconnected world. “This training underscores the importance of strategic insight, adaptive thinking, and cohesive collaboration in facing and overcoming emerging challenges,” he added. Dr. Sannoh reminded the participants that the true power of the training lies not solely in the knowledge gained, but in the collective spirit and commitment to action.

The Director of Training, AIG Sahr Y. Senesie, noted the significance of the day’s event, acknowledging the successful completion of two separate trainings for senior officers. He commended the SLP, under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police and the Government of Sierra Leone, for this achievement. “The knowledge and skills you’ve acquired should be utilized in your respective roles, and shared among colleagues to enhance service delivery,” he urged.

Alhaji Yusuf Manjalow, lead consultant of YUMAJ Group, congratulated the participants for their discipline and dedication. “This training marks a significant milestone in your policing careers. It aims to enhance your capabilities, enabling you to inspire your subordinates while advancing national interests,” he remarked. He also stressed the importance of embracing responsibilities and leading with courage, humility, and commitment to democratic principles.

The ceremony concluded with a group photo, following a heartfelt vote of thanks from Superintendent Hawa Tina Momoh, Head of Gender.

This leadership training program is part of ongoing efforts to improve capacity and address contemporary policing issues faced by senior officers in their respective divisions
