Over 130 Suspects Arrested, Including Five Police Officers

Freetown, 5th November 2025 — The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the ongoing nationwide crackdown on narcotic drugs, which continues to yield significant results across the country.

During the SLP’s weekly press conference held on Wednesday, 5th November 2025, at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess, Kingtom, the Director of Operations, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) John Matine Senesie, briefed the press on major arrests and seizures made during recent operations targeting the possession, sale, and consumption of illicit substances.

AIG Senesie disclosed that the crackdown has resulted in over 130 arrests nationwide within the last week, including five police officers implicated in drug-related offences.

Major Arrests and Seizures

Among the notable arrests reported were:

1. Mariama Bangura of No. 8 Rasmusson Street, Brookfields, and Alfred Kanu, arrested on 31st October 2025 with 707 wraps of suspected Kush. (Awaiting Forensic Analysis and Reports)

2. Abdul Rahman Conteh of No. 45 Off Kelson Road, Ferry Junction, arrested on 29th October 2025 with 560 wraps of suspected Kush. (Awaiting Forensic Analysis and Reports)

3. Hassanatu Samai of Karitas, Allen Town, arrested on 4th November 2025 with 434 wraps of suspected Kush. (Awaiting Forensic Analysis and Reports)

4. Bai Mansaray of No. 15 Wharf Road, Kanikay, Cline Town, arrested on 20th October 2025 with 347 wraps of suspected Kush. (Awaiting Forensic Analysis and Reports)

5. Police Constables Thomas Anthony Momoh and Abu Harding of Juba Hills were arrested at Mile 13, Goderich, with six half-filled black polythene bags containing loose quantities of Kush. (Charged to Court on 30th October 2025)

6. Kadiatu Kondeh and Mariama Stella Koroma of Aberdeen were arrested with 239 wraps of Cannabis Sativa and 509 wraps of Kush, respectively. (Awaiting Legal Advice)

7. Sergeant Musa Sidikie Swaray of Mile 91 Police Barracks was arrested on 3rd November 2025 with 284 wraps and 15 sachets of suspected Kush. (Awaiting Forensic Analysis and Reports)

Other arrests included:

Aron Brainard – 541 wraps of Kush

Ibrahim Conteh – 539 wraps of Kush

Mohamed Sesay – 100 wraps of Kush

Hassanatu Sesay – 225 wraps and loose quantities of Kush

Isatu Kamara and Kadiatu Kamara – 172 wraps of Kush

Alhaji Bundu – 8 boxes of Tramadol

Samuel Koroma – 131 wraps of Kush.

AIG Senesie confirmed that five police officers have been arrested in connection with the ongoing operations:

Constable Allieu Bangura

He emphasised that “there are no sacred cows in this fight,” and those found culpable—regardless of status or position—will face the full force of the law.

Regional Overview

The Director further disclosed the following statistics for arrests made across the country within the past week:

Freetown West: 10 suspects

Freetown East: 30 suspects

North-East Region: 22 suspects

Southern Region: 26 suspects

Eastern Region: 48 suspects

All suspects are currently under investigation.

AIG Senesie reaffirmed the Sierra Leone Police’s determination to dismantle drug networks and safeguard communities from the scourge of narcotics. He urged the public to continue sharing credible information with the police, stressing that “the fight against the deadly menace of drugs requires collective effort from all citizens.”
